A Golden Anniversary
Fr. Pat O'Malley's Fiftieth Anniversary as a Priest - May 6, 2007

On Sunday, May 6th, at the 11 am Mass, Fr. Pat O'Malley, on the occasion of his 50th anniversary as a priest, celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving with the people of St. Celestine Parish. Fr. O'Malley served as pastor of the parish from 1981-1991, and is presently listed as "pastor emeritus" of St. Celestine. After Mass, there was a light reception in Annex and Gym to which all were invited.

Sunday, May 6th was a wonderful day for me as I celebrated Mass with all of you on the occasion of my 50th Anniversary as a priest. Meeting and greeting so many familiar faces made my day. With each of you, memories flooded up from the past. The Liturgy was a delight for me - the singing, the readings, the serving, the environment - beautiful!

I am especially grateful to Fr. Sullivan, the priests and the entire staff of the parish for their hospitality. What a great group of people! Now I know why I miss St. Celestine's so much. Please know that you will all be in my Masses of Thanksgiving these days. Your kind words, your prayers, your cards and gifts were awesome. God bless you and continue to reward your efforts to live out and spread the Good News of Jesus.
